The well equipped Matikkala cottages are located in Ruokolahti in South Karelia in Southeast Finland, 20 km north of Imatra, 60km from Lappeenranta Airport.

Ski Center Ruokolahden Freeski is just 300 meters away from our cottages.

All of our cottages are well-equipped and available for rent all year round.

A wonderful 2-story villa with 5 bedrooms and 10 beds. A cozy and spacious backyard and a terrace surrounding the cottage. Open kitchen, 2 living rooms, 2 bathrooms, sauna, utility room and glazed balcony/terrace upstairs. There is certainly enough space in this cabin for every member of even a larger travel party.

A high-quality and well-maintained cabin in a great location, the best thing was the cooling provided by the air heat pump in the hot weather. All the necessary equipment was found on site. The barbecue hut on the beach is in very good condition and a nice addition.

Very well equipped cottage: barbeque place on terrace, lot of games and board games, washing machine, drying closed, big freeze and fridge etc. Sleeps up to 8 people. Good location but still in peace and quiet. Lot of sporting activities both winter and summer within short distance if needed. Very clean cottage.

Hiking

The nature of Matikkala offers excellent opportunities for hiking on forest paths and outdoor trails in varied terrain.

Sports and exercise

Located a few hundred meters away, the Freeski skiing center and its surroundings offer incredibly wonderful scenery for running and jogging, and when winter arrives, skiing, downhill skiing and even snowshoeing. You can rent winter sports equipment from Freeski. See more: Freeski.

Berry and mushroom picking

The forests of Matikkala and Ruokolahti are full of things to collect in autumn. You can pick blueberries, lingonberries and mushrooms from the forest. Remember to grab a mushroom book in your pocket if you are not yet familiar with mushrooms.

Cycling

Bring your bike and pedal in the sandy hilly terrain, which suddenly turns into a forest or rock bottom. There is no shortage of variability or ups and downs, but there is also a smoother road, and along it you can get to the nearby downtown area of Ruokolahti to get a supplement.

Swimming

Put on your swimsuit and go to Saimaa! The beach is about 500 meters away and of course only used by the cottages. The excellent sandy bottom offers a treat for the soles of the feet.
